Forget long hours of training and intense competition on race day and say hello to a day of fall fun featuring 12 giant inflatable obstacles!  The team at XtremeAIR 5k has made it possible for everyone of all ages and fitness levels to participate without the hassle of muddying shoes or diving through electrical cords. At this 5k obstacle race, you’ll be laughing and bouncing your way through the course with your best pals and family members. The best part about these Pittsburgh 5k is that it’s noncompetitive but you are still reaping the health benefits of a 5k race, working those muscles that you never knew you had. At XtremeAIR 5k, you are encouraged to go at your own pace and just have fun! So, if you’re tired, walk it out for a few obstacles, catch your breath, and drink some water! Out of all the family events in Pittsburgh, this really is the one for those looking for a fun challenge for the whole family.

Gear up and Get Bouncin’!

So, you’re probably wondering what makes this different from all the other 5k races in Pittsburgh. Well, XtremeAIR 5k’s giant, bold and colorful obstacles pack quite a punch and offer a variety of physical challenges for the body. Just wait until you feast your eyes on these bad boys! On October 1, 2016, you’ll meet your crew, check in, and scope out the course at the South Park Fairgrounds Complex (directions can be found here). You will notice a giant display of bounce houses but don’t be fooled by their vibrancy; you will soon discover what you are in for! The first obstacle, Game On, will give you a test run and prep you for what’s to come. The Cliffhanger, the second obstacle, will challenge your balance as you climb 3 stories up and down. By the time you get to the third obstacle, I’m Tired, you will think we are giving you a break until you are forced to work your legs like never before. Flash forward to The Gauntlet, an obstacle that makes you dive through giant X’s, shimmy through an inflatable jungle and dodge swinging balls! We don’t want to spoil the rest for you so we will save the rest for your arrival! Spectator seating is always free so be sure to bring all your friends!


All ages that meet the 48” height minimum are welcome to join! Those who register as a team, first responders, and military personnel will all receive a discount. Make sure to register today before prices increase and to ensure you get in your preferred wave (you can go directly to the registration page by clicking here). Once you have registered, it is encouraged to pick up your packet the day before the race, to save time on race day. Time and location of packet pickup can be found on the event page. Procrastinators, don’t worry. If race day arrives and you have yet to register or grab your packet in advance, you can do so the morning of the race, just be sure to arrive about an hour early to ensure you have enough time to park, get your tickets and packet, and scope out the course.
